Emergency policy

Emergency Procedures policy.

If there is any emergency situation, I will use following points:

·   Also, I may call a responsible person or a suitable adult who has been previously  assessed by me.

To call parents or their emergency contact and arrange with them to collect their children. I’m also planning to arrange agreements with a local childcare provider for an emergency.

There are two points of exit from the house - a front door and a back door in the kitchen. Keys for all doors are stored within easy and immediate reach. Mains and battery-operated smoke detectors interlinked have been installed. These will be checked on a weekly basis and this will be recorded. All exit doors are clear at all times.

In the event of an emergency all children in the house will be gathered, and in a calm manner walk out the nearest and safest exit. We will make our way to the footpath at the front door, at which point emergency services will be contacted. At no point will anyone be allowed to re-enter the house until told that it is safe by the emergency services.

if I felt any of childrent in my care at risk I may call local at social care Social work 03456 08 12 06

Fire drills will take place four times a year and this will be recorded. There will be a clear Emergency Escape Plan on display in the lounge and children will be regularly talked through this. In the event of a new child joining the service, a fire drill will take place within six weeks.

I will have two first aid kits to use when needed and I will check them regularly. The health centre is five minutes away from my house and also there are two pharmacies which are two minutes away from my house.

When I administer any first aid to any children I will wear cloves and use aprons.

I will record what I used and give a copy to the parents.

Accidents/Incidents:

I will be with all children in a safe place then call emergency authorities if the situation requires it.

I may also call my emergency contact and the parents of all children if the situation requires it. If not, I will tell the parents about what happened when they pick up their child.

I will write down all details including any actions taken by me, and I will give a note to the parents as soon as reasonably possible.

This policy may change or be updated at any point depending on my service needs and if legislation is updated, it will also be reviewed at least once a year.
